Tile and flooring techniques
Sealing:
New Flooring should be sealed properly to protect the tile and help prevent grout discoloring. It is important to apply a sealer as early as possible. If the floor is not sealed early in the process, it is necessary to machine scrub the floor prior to applying the sealer. Vinyl Composition Tile must at all time have a floor finish on it to prevent scratching. VCT must have a periodic schedule to maintain its effectiveness and appearance. Since every facility is different we design a program tailored specifically for your building.
Buffing:
All waxed floors are buffed once a week. Buffing a floor is actually called burnishing. When it is applied it burns the wax/heating it up moving it around to create a high shine and remove marks.
Stone Surface Techniques
Diamond Pad:
Is used when restoring stone surfaces. These harder surfaces over time retain marks and scratches. The diamond pad technique will grind the marks and scratches off the surface. The second step is to crystallize the stone to restore the shine.
Tile Glow:
This procedure is similar to polishing marble, but is used on ceramic tile. This process gives the tile a natural shine. A side benefit to this process is that it will also improve the look of the grout. The Tile Glow process is very effective in restrooms.
